Who is rafasemilla

TRafael Ayala Silva, also known as Rafasemilla, is a Colombian-born medicine man, cultural activist, and professional drummer with over 14 years of dedicated experience on the medicine path. Rooted deeply in the ancestral wisdom of the Americas, he offers a holistic approach to healing and spiritual growth that weaves together ancient traditions, music, and sacred ceremony.

Rafasemilla’s journey began through his work with the Cofán people of Putumayo, Colombia, where he continues to cultivate relationships with both the Cofán and Murui communities. He is a devoted student of the Colombian Taitas and carries the sacred teachings of the Amazon rainforest.

Over the past 12 years, he has also walked the sacred pilgrimage paths of the Wirrarika people of Mexico, honoring their spiritual traditions and vision. As a carrier of the sacred Water Drum, Rafasemilla supports Half Moon ceremonies and prayers in multiple countries, embodying a deep reverence for the healing power of ritual and rhythm.

For more than 8 years, he has led Sweat Lodges and Temazcales, following the Mexica tradition and learning directly from wisdom keepers in Oaxaca and Mexico City. These ceremonial spaces serve as powerful tools for purification, transformation, and spiritual renewal.

With over 13 years of experience working with plant medicines, Rafasemilla holds a strong ceremonial container where participants are supported in detoxing, purifying, and diving deep into processes of healing and restoration. His path bridges the wisdom of the Eagle from the North and the Condor from the South, facilitating a unique fusion of teachings from both hemispheres.

Outside of his ceremonial role, Rafasemilla is a professional percussionist dedicated to preserving the rich Afro-Colombian musical heritage of Colombia’s Caribbean and Pacific coasts. Through rhythm and song, he channels healing and connection, reinforcing his belief that music is medicine.
